Guitar, Bass & Drum Lessons for Teens in Hurstville

Whether your teen wants to jam with friends, join a band, tackle HSC Music, or just build serious technique — lessons are structured around their goals and the music they actually listen to.

Why Teens Learn Well With Me

Real music, real goals, real results.

🎓

HSC Music Performance Prep

I have direct experience supporting students through HSC Music performance preparation, so your teen walks into the exam room prepared and confident.

🔥

The Music They're Actually Into

Rock, pop, metal, hip-hop, whatever's on their playlist — technique is taught underneath songs they want to play, not disconnected drills.

📈

Room to Get Serious

If your teen wants to chase graded exams, join a school band, or eventually gig, I'll build a pathway toward that — at whatever pace suits them.

Three Instruments

Pick an instrument. Or bring the one you already play.

Plenty of teens arrive already having taught themselves a bit — that's a great starting point.

A Plan Built Around Them
Weekly one-on-one lessons in Hurstville, with technique, theory and songs woven together rather than separate boxes to tick.

For teens who want formal recognition, I teach graded curricula from AMEB and ANZCA and have direct experience with HSC Music performance preparation.
4
Real Progress
Whether that's an HSC performance, a school band audition, or just getting good enough to jam with mates — that's the goal from day one.

Getting Started

Instruments, gear and getting exam-ready.

Most teens can start on a standard-size acoustic or electric guitar, bass, or full drum kit — bring whatever you already have, or come to your first lesson empty-handed and we'll talk through options. If you're planning to buy, I'm happy to point you toward reliable beginner-to-intermediate gear that will actually last through a few years of progress, without needing to spend a lot to start well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help with HSC Music?

Yes. I have direct experience supporting students through HSC Music performance preparation, alongside graded AMEB and ANZCA exam pathways if that's part of the plan.

My teen already plays a bit — can you still help?

Absolutely. The first lesson is used to find out exactly where they're at, then lessons pick up from there rather than starting from scratch.

Can they switch instruments later on?

Yes — it's common for teens to try a second instrument once they're solid on the first, and plenty end up playing more than one.

How long are lessons and how often do we meet?

Lessons run weekly and range from 30 to 60 minutes for teens, though we'll settle on the right length together after the first lesson.

Do you help teens prepare for band auditions or performances?

Yes — as an active performing musician myself, I can help prepare set lists, tighten up timing and stagecraft, and get students ready for school bands, gigs or ensembles.

Where are lessons held?

All lessons are in person at the studio at 96 Queens Rd, Hurstville — an easy trip from Penshurst, Kogarah, Mortdale, Carlton and Beverly Hills.
